For a Regional Hospital, 2012 saw the culmination of a state of the art Emergency Department addition, coupled with an extensive renovation to their OR/sterile support services. The 120,000 SF expansion included an outpatient surgery facility, which now serves as the new front door to the Hospital.
A large format, through-body porcelain tile in varying colors and pattern, was utilized to create a pathway from the main entry to the crossroad corridors leading to the Hospital and parking areas. All patient care and visitor service elements radiate from this central path. Off this walkway, family-friendly seating groupings are anchored by low partitions clad in glass tiles.
The focal point of the ER waiting room is an 1100-gallon museum-quality freshwater aquarium and turtle habitat.
