HLGstudio was hired to design the headquarters space for Haystak. They chose a space in historic downtown Fort Myers and charged HLGstudio with incorporating the latest in technology and amenities, while maintaining the character of the building’s original architecture. The McCrory Building was initially a 1950’s drugstore. The redesign integrated the preserved pine wood flooring, exposed heart pine beams, brick walls and tin ceiling. Two new, open staircases were added where only ladder access and an old pulley system that had served as an elevator had been before. An open, collaborative environment was incorporated, as well as a gaming lounge, offices and a breakroom. The new headquarters also includes over ten miles of data cabling and employee amenities such as ADA compliant showers, a changing room for infants and a golf putting space. From an environmental perspective, many of the new finishes are high in recycled content and the new lighting is energy efficient.
