Located in a new urbanist resort community along the Gulf of Mexico, this recreational facility combines a private owner’s club with a public amphitheater for the enjoyment of the homeowners, resort guests and the general public. Services performed by HLGstudio were programming, interior architecture, interior design and furniture selection. The interiors team was instrumental in providing the programmatic requirements that influenced the architecture of the pavilion-like structure. The butterfly roof structure of the second floor terrace enhances airflow from the natural breezes in the community’s hot, humid climate. Like the enclosed lounge space below, it overlooks both the amphitheater and the pool. One of the programmatic elements of the project was to create a private owner’s club and pool. The resulting design incorporates a bar area that is a glass box – open to the amphitheater and the pool, providing a VIP entertainment suite for owners before and during intermission of performances.
