Good Health. From The Outside, In. This was the inspiration behind the new Tanner Health Pavilion, which isn’t just another medical office building – it reimagines what health care should be. Your doctors in one place, collaborating on your care. It’s an environment focused not only on healing, but wellness, encouraging good health.
The design of the interior was developed to enhance this wellness theme. The planning concept for this 140,000 SF, 3 story facility was to consolidate patient registration, and educational needs for all physician practices to accessible areas off the main lobby. An array of medical suites are housed in one convenient facility, ranging from women’s services and breast health, imaging, and internal medicine, to pediatrics, as well as cardiovascular and rehabilitation clinics. Durable material solutions were incorporated, with a nod toward natural elements and patterns.
Visitors approach the building adjacent to a rock garden/pool, landscaped to connect the building to the city’s Greenbelt shared-use path. A custom wall graphic greets visitors as they enter, providing a wash of color to the space, while adding acoustical benefits. The bistro is conveniently located off the lobby, enhanced by custom ceiling, lighting and millwork. Exterior stack stone and cladding materials are introduced into interior spaces to reinforce the outside-in design concept.
The goal for the design of the clinical spaces was to help define each physician practice suite with a unique but cohesive design based on their patient demographic: bright, fun colors & patterns for pediatrics, soft linen look flooring for women’s services, and impact resistant but acoustical floor tile for rehab spaces. Calming wood tones were selected for other patient care areas, with neutral patterns for staff areas. Variation in design was accomplished, while the maintenance regimen could remain consistent throughout all patient care areas.
